What we collect

We collect information you provide directly when you interact with Venture Builders Fund. This includes:

We do not collect special-category personal data (such as health data, political opinions, or similar) and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 16.

Founder data and how it is shared

Information submitted through the founder profile form at /founder is stored securely in Venture Builders Fund's database (hosted by Supabase, our data infrastructure provider, in the United States). Access is controlled as follows:

VBF is not your broker, placement agent, or financial advisor. VBF is not compensated by any third-party investor for access to founder profiles. Sharing your profile, if you have consented to it, does not constitute an offer to invest by VBF or any other party and carries no guarantee of introduction, investment, or any other outcome.

We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with advertising networks or data brokers.

Investor portal

The investor portal is a private, authenticated environment accessible only to accredited investors in VBF's co-investor network who have been verified and granted access by VBF. The portal does not use third-party analytics. Activity within the portal may be logged internally to help VBF operate the service (for example, to notify founders when an investor has expressed interest in their profile, where you have consented to such notifications). Portal access is revoked when an investor leaves the co-investor network or otherwise no longer meets our access requirements.

Email marketing

If you join our mailing list via the /founder signup or any other opt-in, we store your name and email in our email marketing system (Brevo) for the purpose of sending you founder news, VBF programming updates, and invitations to events and webinars. You can unsubscribe at any time via the unsubscribe link in any email, or by emailing hello@venturebuilders.fund. Unsubscribing removes you from marketing emails but does not delete your founder profile data (see the data deletion section below).

Google Analytics

Our public website uses Google Analytics 4 to understand visitor behaviour in aggregate (pages visited, time on site, general location by country). We load Google Analytics only after you accept cookies via our cookie banner. We do not use analytics data to identify you personally. You can decline analytics tracking via the cookie banner, adjust your choice later, or install the Google Analytics opt-out browser extension. Analytics is not loaded inside the authenticated founder area or the investor portal.

Cookies

Our public website uses cookies for two purposes: (1) Google Analytics, loaded only if you accept cookies via our banner; and (2) a first-party cookie that stores your cookie-banner preference so we don't ask you again on every visit. We do not use advertising cookies, we do not sell data to advertisers, and we do not participate in ad-network tracking. The investor portal and authenticated founder area do not use tracking cookies.

Data processors

VBF uses a small number of third-party service providers to run our platform. Each processes your data only under contract with VBF and only for the purposes described in this policy:

We will update this list as our vendors change. Material changes will be noted in the “Last updated” date at the top of this policy.

International data transfers

VBF is a U.S.-based fund and our data infrastructure is hosted in the United States. If you submit a profile or contact us from outside the United States, your personal data will be transferred to and stored in the U.S. For transfers of EU/EEA or UK personal data, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the Standard Contractual Clauses where applicable. VBF's investment focus is on U.S. founders, and we encourage founders located outside the United States to contact their local partner program for guidance before submitting a profile.

Data retention

We retain founder profile data for as long as you keep your account active, and for a reasonable period after you request deletion or become inactive, in order to satisfy legal, accounting, and record-keeping obligations. Specifically:

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a portable copy of your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, email hello@venturebuilders.fund. We will respond within 30 days (or sooner if required by applicable law).

California residents (CCPA/CPRA): you have the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete, the right to correct, and the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law). California residents can also designate an authorized agent to make requests on their behalf.

Residents of Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, and other U.S. states with comprehensive privacy laws may have similar rights; contact us to exercise them.

EU/EEA and UK residents (GDPR/UK GDPR): you have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority. The legal bases we rely on are (i) consent for marketing emails and for sharing founder profiles with co-investor networks, (ii) legitimate interest for evaluating founders and operating our fund, and (iii) contract performance for any direct engagements.

Children's privacy

Our services are not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you believe we have collected data from a child, please email hello@venturebuilders.fund and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time as our practices or applicable law changes. Material changes will be reflected in the “Last updated” date at the top of this policy. For significant changes affecting how we use your founder profile data, we will notify active users by email before the changes take effect.
